Service Opportunities

During the Christmas season, many people are looking for opportunities to serve, and many others are in need of assistance. Do something kind for your family or neighbors by shoveling a driveway, cooking a meal, or giving gifts, and click on the links below for information about ways you can serve the greater Columbus community.

Give blood: Red Cross Westbelt Center (near the chapel) Mon & Thurs 1 - 7 pm, Sat 8 am  - 1 pm

Lifecare Alliance: More than 100 volunteers are needed every single day to deliver Meals-on-Wheels, run errands, assist with light housekeeping tasks, assist at a Community Center or Wellness Center, serve on a board, make favors for clients, or help in the office.

Ronald McDonald House:  A house for families of seriously ill children. Volunteer opportunities include staffing the front desk, making a meal for the families, or cleaning the house.

The Heinzerling Foundation: A long-term stay facility for individuals with developmental disabilities. They welcome carolers, decorators, and present wrappers, as well as volunteers to spend time with the residents.

Holy Family Church Soup Kitchen: They serve 700 hot meals daily and accept food donations, used blankets for the homeless, and other donations, as well as volunteers.

Most of this information came from a Christmas activity organized by the Relief Society last year. If you have information or ideas about other ways we can serve in the community, please email marblecliffrseditor@gmail.com.
