Daughters in My Kingdom: Women of the Church

This Sunday's Relief Society lesson was from Chapter 4 of the Daughters in my Kingdom book. This chapter focuses on the women of the Brigham Young/Utah period of Church history.

Click here to read the chapter online, or you can ask a member of the Relief Society presidency if you don't have a copy of the book at home and would like one.

This chapter is titled "A Wide and Extensive Sphere of Action" and discusses some of the many things women of that time period were involved in, including:
- Charity
- Turning from worldly influences
- Personal revelation
- Defending the practice of plural marriage
- Articulating beliefs
- Temporal self-reliance
- Health care and medical education
- Women's suffrage (the right to vote)
- Publications
- Preparing children and young women for service in God's kingdom

We can be inspired by these women who sacrificed so much and served God, their families, and the Church members in many varied ways!
