Ward Picnic

Saturday, August 13 at 5:30pm: Ward Picnic at Scioto Audubon Park! Lemonade provided! Bring your own picnic dinner and folding chairs/blankets to sit on. Plenty to do including volleyball, nature trails...we've even heard there's a climbing wall (largest free one in the U.S.) and a dog park with an obstacle course! Bring yourselves, come prepared and enjoy!

Michele also passes on the following information:
"To find Scioto Audubon Metro Park turn west off of Front St. onto Whittier St. Turn right on Maier Place at the large "The Peninsula Business Park" advertising sign. The Central Activity area will be on the left, before the dead end into the dog park. There is limited seating so bring folding chairs and blankets to sit on. There is a playground. There is also quite a bit of flat surface that children might enjoy riding scooters or skates on. The climbing wall requires you to bring your own climbing gear. Children under 16 must climb with an adult. Children under 13 are prohibited. All climbing is "at your own risk." There are modern bathrooms available at the Audubon Center at the top of the hill. They can be reached by walking the trails or by a quick car ride back up the road and a turn to the right. The area surrounding the park is designed to attract birds, waterfowl, butterflies, etc. Children might enjoy bringing butterfly nets. Binoculars could be used for birding (or to look into high-rise windows in the distance!) Wear good walking shoes. The wildflowers and tall grasses of the different natural landscapes would make great backdrops for family photos so bring a camera if you have one."
