The Church provides us with many great online resources. Below are a few suggestions for using them effectively and maybe trying out some new things.
One of the bishop's goals for this year (see blog post below) is to have members obtain LDS accounts in order to utilize all the technology tools provided by the Church. If you don't yet have an account, click here to go to the registration page. To register, you will need your membership record number, which you can obtain from one of our ward clerks, Brother Franklin or Brother Thielet (click here for their contact information). If you're already registered, click here to sign in to our Stake and Ward web sites. Once signed in, you can access lesson schedules, our ward calendar, and the membership directory.
LDS.org has many other resources available that you can access without signing in. Check out the homepage for quick links and the latest features. In particular, our bishop has recommended the CES Firesides, which are not just for young single adults! Here is the most recent Fireside with D. Todd Christofferson.
Mormon.org also has many resources available for investigators, converts, and anyone else interested in missionary efforts. One of the newest features is "Meet Mormons," which allows you to search existing profiles of members. The website tells visitors:
Mormons come from diverse backgrounds and experiences but all share a deep commitment to Jesus Christ, to each other, and to their neighbors. The new Mormon.org is designed for visitors to learn more about members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Each profile is a collection of stories and testimonies from Mormons. Participation is optional, but you must be a member of the Church to create a profile.
Our bishop has encouraged all those who are willing to create a Mormon.org profile. Click here to start the process. You will need to register for an LDS account first.
